| craniac | 7 | 10 | Yes | I play this primarily with my son, who was 11 when we started. He is a gamer, but his interest levels in games are not off the charts or anything. The only downside is that the first game or two will take two hours, which keeps it from hitting the table as often as I'd like.
I just like this game. It sets up in minutes. A lot of fun tension as you gather cards and look for opportunities to crush your opponent. I've played four times, and screw up about four rules each time. Last game we didn't advance after a kill. Prior to that we combined attack strengths with Volley and Bombardment. But the games were still lots of fun.
My sons, ages 8 and 11, will play this with me. It is going to take me a long time to fully explore each army and learn different tactics. In my last game I sent the cavalry up the right flank, even though I had no unit cards, because the deck was getting low and I knew they'd show up soon. Wasting someone who can't retreat is very satisfying. I'd love to have a steampunk army.
I could play this game five times in a row. |
